The City of Jasper is the leading Micropolitan Statistical Area in per capita income in Indiana according to statistics from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Jasper is 67th out of 556 Micropolitan Statistical Areas in the United States and the highest ranked Indiana Micropolitan Statistical Area with a per capital annual income of $47,437 according to 2015 figures on the BEA website. 2015 is the most recent reporting period.
“Statistics like these lend supporting research to what we see occurring in our community”, said Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz. “We have more than $100 million of new projects underway and over 98% employment. If you want to work and a safe place to raise your family, make Jasper your home.”
The United States Office of Management and Budget defines a micropolitan area as an urban core with a population of at least 10,000, but less than 50,000, consisting of one or more counties anchored by an urban center plus adjacent counties that are socioeconomically tied to the urban center by commuting.
