Dubois County Deputies responded to an accident last night on State Road 56 just west of Cuzco Rd that resulted with an injury. Alcohol is thought to be a contributing factor in the accident.

Shortly before 9pm at 8:44 last night Dubois County Deputies were dispatched to SR 56 to an accident with injury. Deputies arrived to find a 2003 Subaru Passenger car, driven by 38-year-old Kaleb Connell of Shoals, inverted off the south side of 56 in a ditch.

Police reported that Connell was outside of the vehicle when deputies arrived as Connell told deputies he was westbound on 56 when he swerved to miss a deer causing his vehicle to spin of the south side of the roadway, striking a utility pole along with state highway signs and corn in a nearby field before the car came to a rest on its top.

It is believed that Connell was ejected from the Subaru. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to Memorial. The Subaru was a total loss.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Indiana State Police, Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital EMS, and Uebelhor and Sons Wrecker. The accident is still under investigation, however alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges may be filed at a later date.
