An accident on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of one man after his truck had to be towed from the scene and police found small amounts of meth in his vehicle.

59-year-old Stanley Vonderheide of Jasper was driving an 2001 S-10 Chevrolet pick-up truck south along Newton St. traveling behind Michelle Neukam of Celestine. Neukam was driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger when she slowed for traffic in-front of her. Vonderheide did not see that Neukam had slowed and rear ended the Dodge Avenger.

Vonderheide’s S-10 had to be towed from the scene as it was not insured and upon taking an inventory of Vonderheide’s truck police discovered a small amount of methamphetamine.

Vonderheide was taken to Memorial and treated for a broken nose and a laceration below his right eye before being taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and was also cited for Following Too Closely and No Insurance.

Neukam was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for neck and back pain while a juvenile passenger in Neukam’s vehicle was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
