Barbara A. Stephens, age 80, of Otwell, Indiana, passed away at 12:33 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Barbara was born in Keensburg, Illinois, on September 30, 1937, to Leo and Ferris (Gray) Richardson.  She married Raymond Stephens on March 31, 1956, in Keensburg Methodist Church in Keensburg, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on September 25, 1992.

Barbara worked at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper for 25 years, and then for Dr. Norris’ Surgical Pavilion for 16 years.

She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper.

She enjoyed serving in her church and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Terri (Ed) Frost, Loogootee, IN, Lynette Stephens, Otwell, IN, and Cindy Hochgesang, Jasper, IN, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Joan Beck-Strum, Carmi, IL, one sister-in-law, Evelyn Richardson, Princeton, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is one brother, Wayne Richardson and one nephew, Eddie Wayne Richardson.

Funeral services for Barbara A. Stephens will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Otwell Cemetery, in Otwell, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church.
