Thursday at 2pm Jasper Police received a call of an accident at 36 Street east of Newton Street.

When arriving to the scene they found that a 2013 Subaru driven by 35-year-old Cassie Henke Meyer of Jasper had rear ended a 2013 Dodge Avenger driven by 52-year-old Dean Buechler of Jasper.

Meyer told police that she had her dog in the car and that it had climbed into the driver’s seat, forcing Meyer to accelerate, then striking Buechler’s Dodge, which was slowed on the north side of the road to deliver newspapers.

Buechler was transported by emergency medical services to Jasper Memorial after compliant of pain, Meyer complained of pain but was not transported by Memorial EMS to the hospital.

Police estimated that combined damages likely totaled out both vehicles.

Damage to Buechler’s 2013 Dodge Avenger was estimated at 10,000 while Meyers 2013 Subaru saw around 13,000 dollars worth of damage.

Assisting Jasper Police were Memorial EMS, Jasper Fire Dept. and Sternberg’s and Uebehor’s wrecker services.
