Last week Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter promoted a pair of well experienced, trained and decorated troopers with the Jasper post to the rank of detective.

Master Trooper and Crawford County native Charles Pirtle is a 6 year veteran of the Indiana State Police. Pirtle graduated from the 62nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December, 2001. After graduating the academy, Pirtle was assigned to the Lafayette Post before transferring home to the Jasper Post in 2003.

During his 16 years of service, Pirtle has achieved numerous certifications

Including:

Underwater Search & Rescue Diver

Honor Guard

Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor

Marijuana Eradication Coordinator

Methamphetamine Suppression Coordinator

and Advanced Crash Reconstructionist

Pirtle graduated from the Eastern Seaboard Divers Academy as a certified Commercial Diver after successfully completing 720 hours of training. Detective Pirtle is an honorably discharged United States Army Combat Medic. During his 3 years of military service he spent 17 months deployed to Korea.

 

Also promoted last week to Detective at the Jasper post was Orange county native and 5 year veteran trooper Michael Allen.

Allen graduated from the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy on December 12th, 2012. After graduating the Recruit Academy, Allen was assigned to the Jasper Post where he primarily patrolled Orange County. During his 5 years of service, Allen has achieved numerous certifications and has become highly decorated.

Specialties include:

Hostage Crisis Negotiator

Honor Guard Rifleman

Field Training Officer

Clandestine Lab Technician

and Tactical Intervention Platoon or Riot Squad

Allen is currently in training to become a certified Drug Recognition Expert.

 

Awards include:

Two time Trooper of Year for the Jasper District in 2014 and 2017,

Also in 2017 Allen was named the Indiana State Police Trooper of the Year. This includes all 14 ISP Districts throughout the State of Indiana.

2015 Bronze Star-Personal Bravery and Self Sacrifice at Levels Beyond Expectations.

Allen is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jasper District Investigative Commander First Sergeant Rob Gardner says Detectives Allen and Pirtle will be assets to the District 34 Criminal Investigative Division and will continue to serve the citizens of Indiana well in their new assignment.
