Lorena C. Burke, age 99, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Lorena was born in on March 6, 1919, to Herman and Matilda (Schnell) Reckelhoff.  She married Herman Burke on November 12, 1938.  He preceded her in death on January 10, 1956.

Lorena was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Society.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ann (Randy) Boeglin, Huntingburg, IN, one son, Eugene Burke, Celestine, IN, one daughter-in-law, Patty Burke, Celestine, IN, one sister, Marcella “Sally” Davis, Sharpsburg, GA, two brothers, Frank Reckelhoff, Jasper, IN, Roman (Rosie) Reckelhoff, Cincinnati, OH, eight grandchildren, Diann Haas, Yvonne Haller, Chris, Adam and Phil Burke, Brandon Boeglin, Jayme Tevault, and Shannon Scatena, and eight great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband are one son Herb Burke, one daughter-in-law, Rita Burke, four sisters, Emma Hovelkamp, Louise Loesche, Veronica Koch, Adeline Seger, and one brother, Oscar Reckelhoff.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lorena C. Burke will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.  St. Isidore Parish will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, or to a favorite charity.
