Newly Appointed Mayor of Jasper,
Dean Vonderheide

Jasper has a new mayor.  Dean Vonderheide has been selected by the Republican caucus of precinct committee-persons.   Vonderheide will succeed Terry Seitz as mayor effective next Tuesday January 1st.    He will fill the remaining one year of Seitz’s term.

Seitz announced on December 13th that he will resign from office effective at the end of the year in order to take a position on newly elected U.S. Senator Mike Braun’s staff after the first of the year.

Republican committee members in districts that vote for mayor will heard comments from candidates and voted selecting Vonderheide shortly after noon on Wednesday as the successor to Seitz.  The caucus was held in the Pfaffenweiler Room at Jasper City Hall.  Vonderheide is currently on Jasper’s City Council.  Others vying for the job included current city council member Nancy Eckerle as well as residents Levi Hulsman and Bernie Fallon.
