FORMER COUNCILMAN VYING FOR AT-LARGE COUNCIL SEAT

Alex Blackgrove has decided that he would like to once again serve on the Huntingburg City Council. This time he is seeking the republican nomination for the council’s at-large seat.

Blackgrove was previously on the council representing District 2 from 2012 to 2015. During that time, he supported projects such as the recently completed railroad overpass project, renovation of the north side fire station, renovation of the Huntingburg Police Station and the installation of the senior housing development at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital property. He also represented Huntingburg on the Dubois County 911 Advisory Board.

Blackgrove feels that one of his greatest accomplishments while serving on the Huntingburg Council was serving as a member on the Stellar Committee.

The 1991 Southridge High School graduate has also served on the Huntingburg Parks Board and Huntingburg Planning Commission.

Brackgrove works for Meyer Distributing & Meyer Logistics Inc. in Jasper. He is also a past member of the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Alex and his wife, Jill, live in Huntingburg. He has seven children, two step-children and four grandchildren with another one due this fall.

Blackgrove says he enjoyed representing the citizens of District 2 while serving on the Huntingburg City Council and says he hopes to serve the entire community in the future by being elected to the at-large seat on the Huntingburg Common Council.
