            Matilda “Tillie” E. Simpson Niehaus, age 86, of Holland, passed away at 8:46 a.m., on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

            She was born October 6, 1932, in Spencer County, Indiana to Walter Woodrow and Flora (Haaff) Sandage.  Tillie was a homemaker; and member of Augustana United Church of Christ in Holland and the Augustana Women’s Guild, the Holland Young at Hearts, Holland American Legion Auxiliary and Huntingburg V.F.W. Auxiliary.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, James H. Simpson, in 1989; her second husband, Eldo Niehaus, in 2008; one stillborn infant son, Charles Allen Simpson; by two brothers and four sisters.

            She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda (Rob) Parson of Chandler, Vickie (Tom) Messmer of Stendal, Lisa (Allen) Matthews of Huntingburg, Mona Haag of Huntingburg, and Joyce (John) Kaltenbacher of Holland; by (10) grandchildren and (15) great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services for Matilda Simpson Niehaus will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Garrison Chapel Cemetery near Heilman, Indiana.  Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the service.

            Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 1st; and also from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday.  Memorial contributions can be made to Augustana United Church of Christ or Kindred Hospice.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
