Jasper Community Arts announces its sixteenth annual Chalk Walk Arts Festival, Saturday, June 1st, on the Square in downtown Jasper, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Rain date: Saturday, June 8th). Spend the day exploring the world of art at this family-friendly event chock-full of creative and fun activities for the young and the young-at-heart. You don’t need to have the skills of a professional artist, just a desire for fun.

Transform Jasper’s downtown sidewalks into a colorful mural! Be inspired by the works of regional and local artists as they create sidewalk art in the tradition of European 16th Century “street paintings.”

JCA’s Chalk Walk Arts Festival offers a variety of hands-on activities for children which are all part of the registration fee.

Plan to browse the Arts Market, featuring the unique talents of regional artists and crafters in a variety of mediums. From jewelry and pottery to textiles and more, it’s a great place to find a unique gift!

Register by Monday, May 13th and receive a drawstring bag filled with goodies from local merchants, a box of sidewalk chalk, a free medium Pizza from Papa John’s, and a free Tshirt for only $12. Registrations received after May 13th will not include a free T-shirt but those may be ordered for an additional $8 while supplies last.

Sign-up for the Chalk Walk online at jasperarts.corsizio.com, download forms at www.jasperarts.org, or pick up a form in person at the Jasper Arts Center.

Volunteers and service groups, age sixteen and older are needed to help with setup, registration, craft booths, and cleanup. Those that are interested should call the Jasper Arts Center at 812-482-3070.

Vendors for the Arts Market, Food booths (non-profit groups, DI Teams, Scout Troops, Church groups, etc.) and Community Service booths are still being accepted. More details may be found at www.jasperarts.org.
