Terrence L. “Terry” Vonderheide, age 69 of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Hosparus Health in Louisville, KY.

Terry was born in Washington, Indiana on December 13, 1949 to Roman and Rosetta (Schneider) Vonderheide.  He married Susan Eckert on April 3, 1971 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Terry owned and operated Terry’s Auto Service in Jasper for 40 years.

He served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #147.  He was also a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, the Ireland Sportsman’s Club, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation.

He enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, hunting and fishing, woodworking, and enjoyed playing poker.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Vonderheide of Ireland, one daughter, Rachel Schum (Eric), Jasper, three sons, Bradley Vonderheide (Carrie), Lowell, MI, Matthew Vonderheide, Chicago, IL, and Gregory Vonderheide (Whitney), Jasper, six grandchildren, Evan and Noah Schum, Benjamin, Mia, Nora, and Daniel Vonderheide, one great granddaughter, Lillian Schum, two sisters, Shelley Eckstein (Doug), Jasper and Donna Vogler, Jasper, and one brother, Rick Vonderheide (Marlene), Dubois, IN, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Mary Lynn Vonderheide, one brother, Larry Vonderheide, and one sister-in-law, Kelli Eckert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Terrence L. “Terry” Vonderheide will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Ireland, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at Holy Family Church on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kelli Eckert Memorial Scholarship Fund.
