A Jasper man escaped custody yesterday and ran a few blocks before getting caught.

After his hearing, 19-year-old Dylan Achbach of Jasper tried to escape and run four blocks before getting caught by a sheriff’s office detective an off-duty deputy.

Achbach was arrested last Friday for badly beating a juvenile female.

Achbach now faces additional charges of escape, a level five felony, and could get another one to six years in prison along with his initial charges of battery with a deadly weapon, battery causing serious bodily injury, strangulation, and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
