Martin County (Shoals): The Martin County Sheriff’s Office and an Indiana Conservation Officer responded to a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured one of the drivers on US 150 at the intersection of Boyd Hollow Road on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at approximately 10:18 AM, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle crash with injury. Martin County Sheriff’s Office Major Keith Keller, Chief Deputy Josh Greene, Deputy Johnathan Wells, Indiana Conservation Officer Tony Mann, Martin County EMS, the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, and Air Evac responded to the crash.

Alan L. Stone, 59 of Shoals, was southeast on US 150 approaching Boyd Hollow Road operating a 2014 TAO moped. Kevin G. Montgomery, 54 of Summerville, SC, was southeast on US 150 behind Stone.

Due to Stone traveling slow on US 150, Montgomery began to pass Stone’s moped. As Montgomery was starting to pass, Stone began to turn left onto Boyd Hollow Road. Montgomery’s 2011 Ford F-350 and Stone’s 2014 TAO moped collided. The impact threw Stone from the moped.

Stone was transported from the scene by Martin County EMS to a landing zone in Shoals. Air Evac 17 then transported Stone to the University of Louisville Hospital.

US 150 was down to one lane of traffic for approximately one and a half hours while the crash scene was processed. The investigating deputy is Major Keith Keller.
