The Huntingburg Police Department is welcoming a new officer to the team.

32-year-old Cody Shimm was sworn in during the Huntingburg Board of Public Safety meeting Thursday morning.

Shimm was pinned by his girlfriend Suzzette Flamion, while her 9-year-old son watched.

Shimm has some law enforcement experience under his belt. He was a Martin County Sheriff’s Department Deputy for three years before leaving the field for a position at MasterBrand.

Because Shimm already has his Indiana law Academy certification approved for the Public Employees Retirement Fund, he only needs to complete Huntingburg officer training.
