Paul I. Underwood, age 71, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:46 a.m., on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at his residence.

He was born on January 7, 1948, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Irvin and Helen [Freidman] Underwood.  Paul worked as a warehouse supervisor.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366, the Jasper American Legion, and the Huntingburg Fraternal Order of Eagles.  Paul served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister, Ruth Ann Cherry; one brother, Kenneth Underwood; and one grandson, Jackson Paul Underwood.

Paul is survived by his wife, Marilyn [Eckstein] Underwood of Huntingburg; one son, Chris (Evie) Underwood of Jasper; two daughters, Nicole (Brent) Baer of Indianapolis and Jennifer Matheis of Jasper; one sister, Diane Rothrock of Jasper; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for Paul Underwood will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Friday, August 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.  The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 15th.  A parish rosary prayer vigil, led by Deacon Tom Holsworth, will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
