Southwest Dubois County Schools are kicking off the school year with a new way to communicate.

Throughout the summer, a team headed by Instructional Technology Director, Katy Beck, redesigned the school website and created a mobile app.

This new app includes the most used features from the school website and is a way for the community to stay up to date with school events, news, notifications and more.

According to Beck, 40% of people who access the school corporation’s website do it their mobile devices.

The new app is available for free download at both the Apple and Android app stores. To find it, search “Southwest Dubois”.

Since the app’s launch earlier this month, there have already been 1,000 downloads.

Southwest Dubois isn’t the first local school district to create a mobile app. Both Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools and North Spencer already have apps.

Northeast Dubois is looking into developing one.

Northeast Dubois Technology Director, Andy Chinn, says they have talked in-depth with mobile app vendors.
