It’s that spooky time of year of again!

When trick or treaters are out and about on Thursday, the Indiana State Police Jasper Post is giving safety tips on how to stay safe.

  • Know the trick or treating times in your local community.
  • Have a flashlight, glow stick, or other reflective material on your costume so you can be seen at all times.
  • Always trick or treat with an adult or group, and use the buddy system when going house to house.
  • Only go trick or treating at houses with a front porch light on.
  • Take off masks between houses so you can see where you’re walking.
  • Only accept treats at the doorway of houses. Never enter a stranger’s house.
  • If a trick or treater gets separated from the group, have them stay where they are and ask an adult for help.
  • Before eating candy, have an adult inspect it.
  • If out driving, slow down and drive with caution.

The ISP Jasper Post hopes these safety tips help you enjoy your night out with friends and family while out trick or treating.
