Hundreds of people gathered at the Huntingburg Events Center Wednesday night for the 2019 Distinguished Citizen Award Banquet.

The Jasper Region President at Old National Bank, Tom Krodel, is this year’s award recipient.

Krodel says winning the award is an honor and feels surreal.

Before Krodel was presented with the award, two close friends, Managing Broker and Owner of Sell 4 Free Real Estate, Andy Welsh, and President and  COO of Old National Bank, Jim Sandgren, and Krodel’s three daughters, Brook Higginbotham, Erin Huther, and Meredith Krodel all took turns stepping up to the podium.

Each one spoke highly of Krodel, sharing memories, jokes, and adventures they have had with Krodel through the years.

U.S Senator Mike Braun was a scout himself and spoke as the award banquet’s keynote speaker.

Senator Braun says coming back to his hometown to speak on behalf of the boy scouts was a pleasure.

Braun also speaks highly of Krodel.

The Buffalo Trace Council of Boys Scouts hosts the award banquet every year.

2019 marked the 27th year for the Distinguished Award Banquet and brought in over $50,000 for local scouting programs.
