The Town of Ferdinand is asking the public not to flush napkins, baby wipes, and other non-flushable materials.

In a press release sent out this morning, Ferdinand Wastewater Superintendent Roger Schaefer says that although some materials may say “flushable”, they are instructing that community members pay extra attention to what they are flushing and to not flush anything that isn’t toilet paper.

Wipes and paper towels to not break down like toilet paper and therefore clog systems very quickly.

The following products are not to be flushed down the toilet.

  • Paper towels
  • Napkins
  • Kleenex and other tissues
  • Wet wipes/baby wipes (even those labeled as “flushable”)
  • Diapers
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Gauze/Band-Aids

These products are to be disposed of in a wastebasket.
