A local group will be keeping a tradition going to celebrate Arbor Day this week.
This Friday morning at 9:00am, Patoka 2000 and the Jasper Chamber of Commerce will be dedicating and blessing a tree in celebration of Arbor Day.
This dedication and blessing will take place on the property of Ann and Mike Shappard and Ray Lechner at 433 Lechner Lane in Jasper.
Mayor Vonderheide has been invited to say a few words. Mike Dooley will give some details on the tree. Father Eugene Schmitt will be on hand for the blessing.
A dedication plaque will be placed near the base of the tree.
