Some Southern Indiana counties saw a slight increase in their jobless rates.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released August county unemployment rates this week.

Daviess County had the third-lowest in the state with a 2.6% jobless rate.

Dubois County was not far behind, tying for the fourth-lowest in the state with a 2.7% rate.

The numbers for our surrounding counties include Martin County at 2.8%, Perry and Knox Counties tied at 3.4%, Spencer at 3.2%, Warrick County with a 3.1% jobless rate, Gibson at 3.0%, Pike with a 3.8% rate, Vanderburgh at 4.2%, Crawford at 3.7%, and Orange County with a jobless rate of 4.9%.

Indiana’s August unemployment rate was 4.1%, which is still below the national rate of 5.2%.
