A Jasper man was arrested Thursday on OWI and Possession charges.

Yesterday Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, the Jasper Police Department was dispatched to Springs Valley Bank at the intersection of 15th/Newton in reference to a single-vehicle accident with injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 42-year-old James Taves who was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Upon investigation, it was determined that the male subject, James Taves, showed signs of impairment.

Taves was transported to Memorial Hospital. While at the hospital, Taves tested positive for cocaine, opiates, MDMA, amphetamines, cannabinoids, and methamphetamine. In addition, marijuana, methamphetamine, and heroin were found on Taves’ person as well as heroin in his vehicle.

James Taves was lodged into the Dubois County Security Center on charges of driving while suspended prior, OWI, OWI endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of methamphetamine.
