Dolus Ilene Luff, 99, of the Scottsburg community, passed on to eternal life in Heaven on October 11, 2022.  She was born August 6, 1923, in Pike County, Indiana, to the late Samuel Ottis and Millie Grace (Smith) Coleman.  Dolus married Anson McClure Luff on January 26, 1943.  Dolus graduated from Spurgeon High School in 1942.  During World War II she worked at a defense factory making parachutes.  Afterward, she worked at home gardening, canning and freezing foods, sewing clothes, and making sure everyone in her family was well cared for.  She was a wonderful cook and fixed hundreds of delicious meals for her family.

She was an active member of Bethel General Baptist Church.  Over the years she taught youth Sunday school classes, directed and taught Bible schools, directed many special programs, and was involved in food preparation whenever it was needed.  She volunteered with the 4-H program in Pike County for many years as a club leader and camp counselor.  Over the years she had many creative hobbies.  She was talented at ceramics.  She made beautiful quilts for her children, wedding quilts for her grandchildren, and baby quilts for her great and great-great-grandchildren.  In her later years, her main pastime was reading, and she was a frequent patron of the Pike County Public Library.

Dolus is survived by her children, Larry (Linda) Luff, Vicky (Stan) Shoultz, and Mark (Faye) Luff; grandchildren, Mark (Elisabeth) Luff, Bryan (Beth) Luff, Brandi (Ty) Kabrick, Carrah (Tom) Anson, Amber (Darrin) McDonald, Cody (Kim) Shoultz, Mariah (Thurmond) Senter, and Zachary (Jamie) Luff; great-grandchildren, Catherine (Greg) Brower, Marie (Ivan) Bland, Lauren, and Rebekah Luff, Anson and Emory Luff, Hayden, Adair, Wren, and Sawyer Kabrick, Cora, Ezra, and Silas Anson, Maggie and Arri McDonald, Mabry and Cooper Shoultz, Elias, Anson, and Caleb Senter, Wyatt and Awstyn Luff; great-great-grandchildren, Garrett and Isabelle Brower; and one sister, Hazel Mason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anson Luff, on June 28, 2006; her mother and father; four sisters, Gladis Coleman, Evelyn Summers, Ester Doris Wooley, and Mabel Marceil Riley; and two brothers, Forrest Coleman and Howard Coleman.  He will be greatly missed by her family and by all who knew her well.

 Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at the New Liberty General Baptist Church Cemetery in Coe, Indiana.
