Bowlers Strike Hard, Earn Advance to State

Post-season competition resumed for our area bowlers at semi-state this past weekend. Representatives from Southridge, Forest Park, and Jasper traveled to Indianapolis for a chance at the Indiana High School Bowling championship.

After a seamless 10-0 season in conference play the Southridge boys’ team clenched the regional title in Jasper earlier this month. The Wildcats’ Keyan LeMond took home the singles’ title at that matchup, advancing to semi-state alongside Forest Park’s Korbyn Persohn. Unfortunately, semi-state was the final stop for these bowlers on the way to the state matchups but Dubois County will be represented thanks to the Lady Wildcats.

The Jasper girls’ team emerged out of regional play as champions to battle at the Royal Pin Expo in Indy. Twelve Baker rounds saw them with a 1789-pin total to earn 4th place and a trip to state next weekend. Karleigh Lemond remained a strong presence for the Wildcats as she rolled into the runner-up slot, solidifying her place in the singles competition state finals.

The offices of WBDC (WJTS) and our sister stations congratulate all our local bowlers on the incredible efforts throughout the season. We also wish the Lady Wildcats and Karleigh LeMond the best of luck as they head to state competition on Saturday.
