The Tri-County YMCA has announced a “Safe Sitter” workshop for September 23rd from 9:30-2:30 PM at the Ferdinand location at 131 E 16th Street.

“Safe Sitter” classes and workshops are designed with pre-teens in mind to help prepare them for things including staying home alone, caring for a younger sibling, or preparing to become babysitters like so many pre-teens commonly do.

This is an instructor-led class that is filled with role-playing exercises as well as fun games. Students even get to use mannequins to practice for unexpected trouble like choking or to teach them CPR.

The cost of this event is $50 and pre-registration is required. For more information visit their website at tricountyymca.org or call 812-367-2323

The staff at the YMCA would like to remind potential students that while snacks and water will be provided, it’s a good idea to bring a sack lunch.
