(FERDINAND) — Early Saturday morning, October 21st, Indiana State Trooper Jon Villanueva was working in the Ferdinand area. Trooper Villanueva observed a vehicle pull into the Sunoco gas station nearly striking the gas pump.  Trooper Villanueva observed two small children and a male exit the vehicle. The male staggered towards the gas station.  Trooper Villanueva made contact with the male, Seantez Pearson, inside the gas station.

While speaking to Pearson, Trooper Villanueva detected indicators that Pearson was impaired. Trooper Villanueva had Pearson step outside to perform field sobriety tests.  Pearson failed one field sobriety test and then refused any other tests.  Pearson also refused a chemical test. During the investigation, it was also found that Pearson had an outstanding warrant out of Floyd County.  Pearson’s children were picked up by a family member.  Pearson was transported to the Dubois County jail where he was incarcerated.

Seantez L. Pearson, of Granite City, IL is charged with OWI (Passengers Less than 18 Years of Age) – Level 6 Felony, and having an Outstanding Warrant in Floyd County.

Trooper Villanueva was assisted by Trooper Andrew Recker and the Ferdinand Police Department.
