The Patoka Lake Watershed Steering Committee will host its annual Patoka Lake Clean Up Day on Saturday, September 28th in conjunction with National Public Lands Day.

Participants of all ages and abilities can sign up on the day of the event and will be assigned an area to pick up trash and recycling. Volunteers must wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and long pants to participate. All of the supplies needed for the cleanup will be provided.

The event will begin at 8 AM at the Patoka Lake Corps of Engineers office, located at 4512 North Cuzco Road in Dubois; and at 11 AM all volunteers will return to the dam for a free fish fry, door prizes, and goodie bags.

Since 2008, this cleanup event led by the Patoka Lake Watershed Steering Committee has hosted a grand total of 1,900 volunteers who collected over 22.3 tons of trash found in or around Patoka Lake.

Service and youth groups are asked to register in advance by contacting the Patoka Lake Nature Center at 812-338-5589 extension 3.
