The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department posted on their Facebook Sunday evening that they were recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the Dubois County Community Foundation in conjunction with the Celestine Community Endowment.

The funds will go towards replacing old apparatus currently in use with new and more favorable apparatuses that have new features and functions that better enable the CVFD to fight fires. This also provides relief to the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department as equipment costs have been on the rise for quite some time.

This is the 3rd time since March that good news has been bestowed upon the CVFD as back in March a contract was signed and final specs approved for a new fire engine coming in 2025 which will replace the existing 2003 model. In April the Department was awarded a $20K grant from TC Energy to enable the department to outfit its new engine through TC Energy’s “Build Strong” program.

Congratulations to the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department!
