The Dubois County Local Emergency Planning Committee has announced their next meeting is set to take place on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 at 1:00 P.M., at the Dubois County Emergency Management’s new location at 255 Brucke Strasse Suite A in Jasper in the training room.

In 1986, Congress enacted the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act, also known as the Superfund Amendments & Reauthorization Act, or SARA; which is a law that provides emergency response planning to cope with the accidental release of toxic chemicals into the air, land, or water.

The Dubois County Emergency Planning Committee was organized to carry out this law’s provisions. An important goal of this committee is to increase public knowledge of and provide better access to information about the presence of hazardous materials in the community, as well as provide the community with instructions on how to respond in the event of an accidental release of hazardous materials into the air, land, or water.

This committee is comprised of members from Local and State Government, Environmental, Health, Media, Fire, Police, EMS, Industry, Hospital, Community, and Transportation.
