At the recent Indiana State Fair, 103 farm families were awarded the prestigious Hoosier Homestead Award, recognizing their remarkable achievement of maintaining family ownership of their farms for over 100 consecutive years. To qualify, farms must be at least 20 acres in size or generate more than $1,000 annually in agricultural products.
The awards are categorized based on the farm’s age: the Centennial Award for 100 years, the Sesquicentennial Award for 150 years, and Bicentennial Award for 200 years of ownership.
In Dubois County, the Bartelt-Peters Farm and Meyer Farm earned the Centennial Award, with the Bockting Farm distinguished by both Centennial and Sesquicentennial Awards.
