On Saturday evening, August 24th, Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy was working on State Road 64 near Marengo. Trooper Denk-Mundy observed a vehicle pass her that did not have any working taillights. Trooper Denk-Mundy activated her emergency lights and stopped the vehicle. Trooper Denk-Mundy spoke to the driver, Heather Preston. Preston showed visible signs of impairment. During a search of the vehicle, suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia were located. Preston was transported to IU Health Hospital in Paoli for a chemical test. Preston was arrested and transported to the Crawford County jail where she is being held on bond.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 5 Felony

OVWI (Minor Under 18 Y/O Inside Vehicle) – Level 6 Felony

Neglect of a Dependent – Level 6 Felony

Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor

Possession of Paraphernalia – Class C Misdemeanor

Arresting Officer – Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy

Assisting Officer – Trooper Noah Ewing

Assisting Agency – Crawford County Sheriff’s Office & K-9
