Traffic is scheduled to shift along a section of northbound I-69 that is reduced to one lane in Evansville. Drivers will be shifting west and will now use the left lane of I-69 northbound, from east of the US 41 interchange to the Green River Road interchange.

The right lane of the approximately 1.5 miles of I-69 North will be closed to traffic through late November. Traffic is expected to be in its new position by the early morning of Tuesday, August 13th, 2024. The lane restriction is to accommodate preconstruction and construction activities for Section 3 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing (ORX).

Crews have widened and strengthened the inside shoulder to accommodate traffic. The additional width will provide space for a temporary barrier wall that will separate construction traffic from the traveling public. Separating interstate traffic from slow-moving construction traffic will improve safety for all drivers in the area. The closure is also needed to accommodate
embankment work in the area.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, stay alert, and follow reduced speed limits in the area. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
