The University of Evansville (UE) has been named the Coordinating Partner for Toyota’s Indiana Driving Possibilities initiative, receiving a grant of approximately $2 million. This partnership includes Toyota USA Foundation, Toyota Indiana, North Gibson School Corporation, and the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.
Launched in August 2023, Driving Possibilities aims to drive systemic change and inspire future STEM leaders. The initiative focuses on early childhood education, teacher development, student mental health, and reducing absenteeism. Recent improvements funded by the initiative include a new Pre-K learning center, an interactive STEM playground, and a bilingual case manager at Lodge Community School.
UE, Indiana’s only Ashoka Changemaker Campus, aligns with Toyota’s vision through its Center for Innovation & Change (CIC). This collaboration, led by Program Manager Susan Nyberg, a 1991 UE graduate, and the School of Education, will also establish the Indiana Next Generation Manufacturing Competitiveness Center (IN-MaC) Design and Innovation Training Studio. The studio will train educators in robotics, coding, and engineering, fostering STEM education and careers.
