Jasper Community Arts is excited to present the 31st Annual Juried Art Exhibition at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center, running from September 5 through November 24, 2024. The exhibition will feature a diverse array of media and techniques, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, prints, photography, collage, sculpture, ceramics, and graphite. The showcase includes both two- and three-dimensional works, highlighting the talents of artists from Indiana, its contiguous states, and former residents.

The exhibition kicks off with a First Thursday Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on September 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the gallery. A total of $2,000 in prize money will be awarded across several categories, including Best of Show, Award of Excellence, High Honor Award, and five Honorable Mentions.

This year’s juror is Darryl Halbrooks, an accomplished artist, writer, and professor emeritus from Eastern Kentucky University. With a wide-ranging portfolio that spans from abstract to hyper-real, Halbrooks brings a wealth of experience to the selection process. His works have been featured in over 200 exhibitions, including solo shows at the Huntington Museum in West Virginia and the Memphis Museum of Art. In addition to his visual art, Halbrooks is the author of twelve books of fiction and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

The Thyen-Clark Cultural Center, located at 100 3rd Avenue, Suite A, Jasper, IN 47546, is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated. School groups, clubs, and students are encouraged to visit.
