The Dubois County Commissioners, in collaboration with the Dubois County Fire Chiefs, have officially lifted the county-wide burn ban as of today, September 30, 2024. Residents are now permitted to resume controlled burns under state guidelines.

It is important to note that the only materials legal to burn in Indiana are clean wood products. All other waste must be recycled through appropriate channels. Residents should follow state regulations closely to avoid violations.

Safety remains a top priority, and precautions should still be taken to prevent fires from getting out of control. Anyone planning a controlled burn, such as for brush or outdoor vegetation, is reminded to notify the Dubois County Communications Center before proceeding. This step ensures that emergency services are aware and prepared in case of any unexpected developments.
