In response to ongoing drought conditions, the Dubois County Board of Commissioners, following the advice of the county’s twelve fire chiefs, has implemented a burn ban effective immediately. The ban prohibits all open burning using conventional fuels like wood or other combustible materials, as well as the burning of debris, including timber and vegetation from construction activities.

Exceptions to the ban include campfires and recreational fires, provided they are continuously attended and contained within a non-combustible barrier no larger than 48 inches. All campfires must be fully extinguished before being left unattended. Grilling with charcoal briquettes or propane remains permitted.
