Dubois Library Announces October 2024 Events List

The Dubois Branch Library has announced the list of events they will be holding in October 2024.

The library would like to note they will be closed on Friday, October 25th, for staff development.

• A Class Librarian Display by Mrs. Hustedde’s 2nd-grade class will be in the kids’ section all month.
• Tuesdays in October from 3:15 to 4:30 pm – Activity Corner for ages 8 to 18 – Enjoy snacks, play games, and create crafts with your friends after school. No registration is required. There will be no Activity Corner on October 15th.
• Wednesdays in October at 9 am – Chair Yoga – Yoga following a DVD for older adults and those with mobility issues. You must register by calling the library.
• Tuesday, October 1 – Homemade Cookies Day – Pick up some of their favorite cookie recipes and check out one of their cookbooks.
• Wednesday, October 2 – Smarties Day – Stop by the library for a pack of Smarties.
• Thursday, October 3 from 3 to 4:30 pm – Lego Club for ages 8 to 18 – Visit the Library after school for snacks, Legos, and fun. No registration is required.
• A Witch’s Brew Scavenger Hunt will be in the kids’ sections from October 7th through 19th. Find all the ingredients and choose a prize from the treasure chest.
• Monday, October 7 at 6:00 pm – Pumpkin Decorating for ages 2 and up – Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Decorate a pumpkin of your own. Pumpkins and supplies will be provided. Registration is required.
• Wednesday, October 9 at 5:30 pm – Halloween Wreaths for ages 16 and up – Use a variety of fabrics and ribbons to create a unique Halloween wreath. Registration is required.
• Tuesday, October 15 from 11 am to 4 pm – Card Playing Day for ages 18 and up – Bring your friends or make some new ones and play your choice of card games. No registration is required.
• Wednesday, October 16 at 1 pm – Homeschool Hangout for all ages – Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Get to know other homeschool families and make a ghost scrape painting. No registration is required.
• Wednesday, October 16 from 4 to 8 pm – Open Play Day for all ages – Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Stop in and play with various toys and puzzles. No registration is required.
• Thursday, October 17 at 11 am – Superhero Storytime for ages 2 to 6 with an adult – Bring your toddler to read stories about superheroes, make a superhero craft, and play with toys. No registration is required.
• Thursday, October 17 from 2 to 6 pm – Open Play Day for all ages – Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Stop in and play with various toys and puzzles. No registration is required.
• October 21 to 26 – National Friends of the Library Week – If you are a member of the Friends of the Dubois Library or would like to become one, stop by the library, and they will give you a small token of their thanks.
• Monday, October 28 at 6:30 pm – End of the Month Book Club – This month the club is reading A Secret Gift by Ted Gup. Stop by the library to pick up a book.
• Tuesday, October 29 at 11 am – Halloween Storytime for ages 2 to 6 with an adult – Bring your toddlers in their Halloween costumes to read stories about Halloween, make a Halloween craft, and play with toys. No registration is required.
• Tuesday, October 29 – Bob Ross’s Birthday – Take your picture with (cardboard cutout) Bob Ross!
• Thursday, October 31 from 10 am to 6:20 pm – Trick or Treating at the Library – Visit the library in your Halloween costume, and get a Halloween treat.
• Thursday, October 31 from 10 am to 6 pm – Early Voting in the Library Community Room.
