As summer gives way to cool fall weather, Indiana anglers should take note that the last Free Fishing Day of the year is approaching on Saturday, September 28. This event presents a fantastic chance to take someone fishing for the first time, making it an ideal outing for families or friends.

On Free Fishing Days, Indiana residents can cast their lines in the state’s public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp. While fishing is free on these special days, all other regulations, including seasons, bag limits, and size limits, still apply.

Free Fishing Days provide an excellent opportunity to learn how to fish, spend quality time with family, or introduce friends to the joys of angling. For those interested in fishing events, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages checking the DNR Calendar to find local activities on their website.
