At approximately 8:17 p.m. on September 2, 2024, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call from the David Goble residence, located on State Road 257, just north of the East Fork of the White River bridge. The caller reported that an armed man had pulled into their driveway and began arguing with her husband.

The armed individual, later identified as 59-year-old Kevin Wilson of Washington, was told several times by Mr. Goble to leave the property. However, Wilson continued to approach the house while escalating the confrontation.

When Wilson reached the front porch, Mr. Goble observed that he was pointing a handgun in his direction. Acting in self-defense, Mr. Goble fired two shots, fatally wounding Wilson, who retreated near his vehicle before succumbing to his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that Wilson suffered from mental health issues, and there was no known prior connection between him and Mr. Goble. The investigation is ongoing, with a report to be submitted to the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington Police Department, Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office, the Indiana State Police, and Countryside Wrecker Service.
