Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) proudly announces that Oncology Nurse Navigator Sharon Mead, RN, OCN, ONN-CG, has been awarded a scholarship from the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+). This scholarship will cover her registration, hotel accommodations, and flight to attend the AONN+ Annual Conference, which will take place from November 5-7, 2024, at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The AONN+ Annual Conference brings together key professionals in oncology, including navigators, social workers, physicians, and administrators, to collaborate and enact positive change in patient navigation. The three-day event will provide attendees with opportunities to earn continuing education contact hours, engage with leading experts, and explore the latest innovations in oncology care that will help enhance patient outcomes.

Mead, who applied for the scholarship in August, expressed her excitement about this professional opportunity. “I am incredibly grateful to AONN+ for this scholarship. Attending the conference will not only provide me with new knowledge and resources to support my work as an oncology nurse navigator, but it will also allow me to collaborate with others in the field who share the same passion for patient-centered care. The insights and connections I gain from this experience will be invaluable in continuing to deliver the highest quality of care to my patients here at Daviess Community Hospital.”

The AONN+ scholarship program is designed to support navigators and other oncology professionals who demonstrate both financial need and a strong commitment to patient navigation. Mead’s scholarship will allow her to join oncology professionals from across the country in a dynamic learning environment focused on accelerating advancements in navigation practices and improving patient care.

“Daviess Community Hospital is proud to support Sharon in her continuing efforts to advance oncology care in our community,” said Daviess Community Hospital CEO Tracy Conroy.
