Crawford County officials have declared a Local Disaster Emergency in response to unprecedented rainfall and flooding that has severely impacted the region. The declaration was issued by the Crawford County Board of Commissioners as the county faces substantial infrastructure damage from recent severe weather events.

The Crawford County Highway Department will be conducting comprehensive damage assessments of county infrastructure over the coming days and weeks as floodwaters recede. This evaluation will help determine the extent of repairs needed across the county’s roads, bridges, and other vital transportation systems.

Residents who have observed rain and flood damage to county infrastructure are encouraged to report these issues directly to the highway department. The assessment process is expected to be extensive, given the widespread nature of the flooding.

The historic flooding follows a pattern of increasingly severe weather events that have affected many parts of Indiana in recent years. Local emergency management officials are coordinating with state resources to address immediate safety concerns while planning for longer-term recovery efforts.
