Bishop David Eugene “Gene” Marcum, age 70, of Stendal, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born August 30, 1954 to Claude E. and Mildred Irene (Keaton) Marcum in Williamson, West Virginia.  He married Jean A. Evans on February 22, 1986 in Chandler, Indiana.  Gene was Pastor of Huntingburg Outreach Ministries, where he considered the congregation not just members, but family. He appointed as Bishop and also served as President of the Eagles Nest Ministerial Association. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Gene found his greatest joy in the time he shared with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Martha Holmes, Linda Raetz, Claude, Donald and Robert Marcum; father and mother-in-law, James Sr. and Charlotte Evans; and brother-in-law, Tim “Bubba” Evans.

Gene is survived by his wife, Jean Evans-Marcum of Stendal; six children, Tracy (Jessica) Marcum of Gas City, Indiana, Michael (Sara) Marcum of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Mary (Jeremy) Schepers of Dubois, David (Jami) Marcum of Huntingburg, Ryan Marcum of Stendal, Chris (Kara) Marcum of Stendal; two brothers, Larry Marcum of Jasper, Ronald Marcum of Evansville; 18 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at Huntingburg Outreach Ministries with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.  Bishop Jeremiah Pitts will officiate the funeral services.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Huntingburg Outreach Ministries and also one hour prior to the funeral, Wednesday.
