Dubois County’s own Sander Processing and Family Meat Market continues to distinguish itself as one of Southern Indiana’s premier meat processors and retailers. With locations in Celestine and Saint Anthony, the family-owned business recently added another accolade to its growing list of achievements.

At the 2025 Indiana and Kentucky State Meat Convention, Sander Processing was awarded the prestigious title of Grand Champion in the Specialty Patties category. Their winning entry: the Mushroom Swiss Burger, a handcrafted patty that blends premium ground beef with savory mushrooms and Swiss cheese. This honor marks a significant achievement, as the competition draws some of the top processors from both states.

In addition to the award-winning Mushroom Swiss Burger, the company has also developed a line of specialty flavors including Bacon Cheddar, Nashville Hot, and Philly Cheesesteak. These patties are available exclusively at their Saint Anthony location.

Sander Processing began in 1984 when founder Jim Sander launched a backyard butcher operation in Celestine. In June 2003, a new processing facility opened at 6614 E State Road 164, Celestine, IN 47521. This location remains the heart of the company’s custom processing work and is the only site for deer processing. Customers can call the Celestine facility at (812) 481-0044 for inquiries.

In 2021, the business expanded with the opening of Sander Family Meat Market at 4650 South Cross Street, Saint Anthony, IN 47575. This location serves as the retail hub, offering fresh meats, sausages, and their signature patties. The Saint Anthony store can be reached at (812) 326-1001.

Together, the two locations employ nearly 80 staff members and process over 100 head of cattle and 160 pigs weekly. They also support local farmers through livestock purchasing for freezer meat.
