Pike Central Junior Senior High School has announced that its FFA chapter is now officially an affiliate chapter of the National FFA Organization. This change means that all 101 students enrolled in agriculture classes at Pike Central are now FFA members, with no individual membership fees required.

The affiliate model is designed to remove financial barriers for students by replacing individual dues with a single fee paid at the chapter level. That fee is based on total agricultural enrollment, and funding is secured through the chapter itself or local sponsorships. Pike Central is currently working with a local sponsor to cover the cost, with plans to finalize the partnership soon.

Becoming an affiliate chapter ensures that every agriculture student at Pike Central has access to the full scope of FFA programming. Students will be eligible to participate in leadership development activities, career development events, state and national conferences, and scholarship opportunities, all as part of a comprehensive agricultural education experience.

FFA was founded in 1928 as Future Farmers of America, and while its early focus was on traditional farming, the organization has since expanded to prepare students for careers in a wide range of agricultural and leadership fields. Today, FFA has more than one million members across over 9,000 chapters nationwide, making it one of the largest youth organizations in the country.

With affiliate status, Pike Central joins a growing number of schools working to ensure that every agriculture student can take part in the opportunities FFA provides, regardless of financial circumstances.
