The American Red Cross is encouraging Hoosiers to donate blood this September, reminding the public that giving now helps ensure lifesaving blood products are available whenever and wherever emergencies occur. Donors of all types are needed, with an urgent call for type O positive and B negative blood.
September is National Preparedness Month, a time to highlight the importance of a strong blood supply. Natural disasters, severe weather, or even home fires can disrupt collections, while trauma patients may require transfusions within minutes of arriving at the hospital.
This month, the Red Cross is partnering with PEANUTS® to thank donors. Those who give by September 21 will receive a Red Cross x PEANUTS mystery bag with one of four T-shirt designs, while supplies last. Thousands of golden tickets are hidden nationwide, redeemable for a full set of shirts. Platelet donors giving September 22–October 5 will also receive a Red Cross x PEANUTS sweatshirt featuring Snoopy as “Joe Cool,” while supplies last. Additional promotions include a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card by email for all who give September 22–October 19.
