The Optimist Club of Huntingburg has named Jaylynn Goodwin as its Youth of the Month for March.

Goodwin, the daughter of Mark and Lynn Goodwin of Huntingburg, is a senior at Southridge High School where she has been involved in a wide range of school activities and organizations.

Her involvement includes FFA, FCA, Mayor’s Youth Council, National Honor Society, Raiders for Life, Natural Helpers, Spirit Club, cheerleading, girls track and field, and Spanish Club.

Throughout her high school career, Goodwin has earned numerous honors recognizing both her academic and leadership achievements.

Among them are being ranked in the top ten percent of her class, membership in the National Honor Society, recognition from the College Board National Recognition Program, and several state level FFA accomplishments.

She has also been recognized through 4 H for her leadership and participation at the state and national level.

Outside the classroom, Goodwin is active in 4 H where she completes project work and shows livestock, and has participated in national conferences in Washington D C and Atlanta.

She currently serves as District Ten FFA President and is a member of the Indiana FFA Executive Committee.

She is also involved in her church youth group, Dubois County Young Life, and volunteers as a wildlife leader at Southridge Middle School.

Following graduation, Goodwin plans to attend Kansas State University where she will study Agricultural and Natural Resources Communications, with a possible minor in Agricultural Policy or Animal Science.
