A Pike County organization is among those receiving state funding to help celebrate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

The Indiana Arts Commission has awarded $60,000 through its America250 grant program, with 12 organizations across the state each receiving $5,000 for projects highlighting American history and culture.

Locally, the Otwell Progress Committee was selected as one of the grant recipients, putting Otwell on the map as part of the statewide celebration.

The one-time grant program is funded through the National Endowment for the Arts and the Indiana General Assembly. It drew more than 100 applications, with selected projects representing a wide range of artistic disciplines and communities across Indiana.

Projects funded through the program will take place throughout 2026, leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Other recipients include organizations in cities such as Jeffersonville, Muncie, Indianapolis, and South Bend, all working to showcase American history through arts and cultural programming.
