The historic Spirit of Jasper train will not run during the 2026 season, officials say.
The 100-year-old train, refurbished about 20 years ago, has been a regular sight on trips across Southwest Indiana, including stops in French Lick and at Dubois County Bombers games.
Officials say the train’s wheels and the tracks, owned by the Indiana Railway Museum, require maintenance. Additional meetings are planned to discuss the train’s future beyond this season.
