Eugene M. Helming, age 69, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 6:18 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.
Eugene was born in Jasper, Indiana on June 3, 1956 to Theodore and Theresa (Verkamp) Helming. He married Marcia Eckert on September 3, 1977 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.
He worked for several employers including: Kimball, Leitz, and Jasper Rubber.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana and the Celestine Community Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, and watching wrestling on TV. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his dog Ryder.
Surviving is his wife, Marcia Helming of Celestine, one daughter, Angela Neff (Daniel), Jasper, two sons: Jarett Helming, Jasper and Joseph Helming, (Stacy), Celestine, four grandchildren: Dawson Neff, and Brooklyn, Nicholas, and Adalyn Helming, two sisters: Ann Summers (Jerry), Celestine, and Mary Lou Sermersheim (Ralph), Wickliffe, and one sister-in-law, Betty Helming, Celestine.
Preceding him in death beside his parents were two brothers: Charles and Herman Helming.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene M. Helming will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass time at the church on Tuesday. The St. Isidore Parish will pray the rosary at 8:45 a.m.
